While it may sound as though this book is too sad to bear, at the same time, the narrative is often too beautiful for words. But nothing seems to be the same. In the spirit of trying to make good use of my time, I decided to start Leopard at the Door before bed earlier last week. This was not one of our book club's selections but I am definitely going to suggest it to our group. The setting of early 1950s Kenya was fascinating , and Jennifer McVeigh has done excellent research that is seamlessly woven into the narrative of the book. Leopard at the Door is a Bildungsroman about Rachel who returns to the Kenya in the early 1950s after spending six years in England.
